I DON’T CARE ABOUT TRAFFIC!
Did i hook you in? did i?
Did you think… what the hell is this crazy guy talking about?
He doesn’t care about driving traffic?
The traffic that we all crave…
The traffic that we all need to survive…
The traffic that we all desperately drive to our sites to make a living online…
…and that same traffic that is the be all and end all of this crazy cyber space world we choose to revolve a big percentage of our lives around!
Well… i do care actually, i care a hell of a lot too!
I understand that no traffic to my websites, means that i keep on getting up, day in day out, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year, for another 30 years to do a job that i hate big time!
Let me explain…
What is the point of driving traffic to my newly built ‘drive-in,’ for friday nights big blockbuster movie.. and when they pull up all excited with their popcorn and Pepsi… theres a black & white 17″ portable television, which the front row can’t even focus on through their steering wheel!
There’s going to be a lot of disappointed punters, who will never return, and who will tell their friends to never visit either. I don’t want to send traffic down some dodgy back alley! i want to see it driving down my boulevard man! I want my traffic to love it, i want it to think, ‘hey this is fun, this is interesting, i like this place, this is different, i want to come here often’.
You get my drift? This is the same buzz i want to get around my websites. I know i am way off that standard at this present moment in time, in my very early days of internet marketing. But that is what i aspire to, and that is where i eventually will get to, i promise, there are some seriously exciting times ahead!
Look, as i write this post, we are smack bang in the middle of Alex Jeffreys 3.0 coaching program. We are smack bang in the middle of traffic week, where Alex is teaching us all sorts of wicked ways and new fresh technique’s to get targeted traffic to our websites.
I notice that lots of my fellow students are flat out trying and testing all the new technique’s they have been taught. Its wicked, i really wish them all the best, we are a community, and the support we give each other is truly amazing, i would not be able to do this without them.
But this pace everyone is going at the moment, its not for me sorry. I need to re-group, take stock, and realise how far i have come in this very short period of time.
I can’t keep up anymore, i need to realise that im on the right road, the right track, we are ok, and we are doing just fine. Do it at my pace, and in my own time. The pace and time that suits me, and the pace and time that will bring me success on the level that i aspire to.
If i try and run before i can walk, i will not get that big screen up in time before all the traffic comes to my drive-in. My boulevard will be looking like a dodgy back alley if i don’t get all them fancy lights up in time, or get them trees and flowers planted in time, or open that nice new car wash in time, for the traffic to keep on returning.
So for now, traffic can wait. Maybe it will be next week, or the week after, who knows? All i know is that when i am ready for the traffic, i will start this same process again, at my pace, in my own time, as and when im ready.
I AM BUILDING A BRAND, A QUALITY BRAND BUILDS SLOWLY!

I think you’re right on about doing it at your own pace. The internet isn’t going anywhere. (and if it does then something really crazy happened and we’re all in trouble). I love the analogy about the b&w television. Bit like I have been doing lately. Driving all this traffic (I had 500 page views yesterday which for me as HUGE) and although I have good content and an interesting site ( I think anyway) I have no opt in or reason to subscribe, kind of like your analogy.

You’ve got the right idea working at your own pace rather than rushing to keep up.
I was in Alex 2.0 and I’m only really starting to actively drive traffic to my blog now. OK I did get a little TOO caught up in the product creation phase, but at least I know now there’s plenty of quality content to drive people too now instead of a “a black & white 17? portable television” – nice analogy there mate.
It’s all about balance – don’t run before you can walk BUT also don’t get it perfect before you get it going!
Stick to doing what’s right for you and what you can be proud of.

I know exactly how you feel. I am a student of MWA 2 with students such as Marcus Passey, Matt Wolfe etc., and I saw how they were forging ahead and I was getting nowhere. I admit I am one of the oldest members on the course and I guess the grey matter doesn’t work as quick. I very nearly threw in the towel because I thought I could never achieve what they were doing, and maybe I never will. I decided it isn’t a competition and you can only go at your own pace (mine’s roughly snails pace!!) but I am determined to get a result eventually – it may take me another year or more to get any success – so be it.
Go at your own pace, don’t be put off by how well other people are doing just plough ahead and you will get there.
